Mission and Vision
The mission of the church is to help fulfill Christ’s Great Commission of discipling the nations through its tasks of worship, witness and edification.
The vision of the church is to accomplish the mission of the church through the stated worship services, the Sunday school program, through the women’s and men’s meetings, through hospitality in our homes, through the encouragement and training of heads of households to disciple their families.
Worship. Sunday worship is both morning and evening. Worship is critical to the life of the church as we become what we worship (Psalm 115:8). We desire to keep the whole day holy through the use of morning and evening worship.
Sunday School. Sunday school classes exist for ages 3 and up. Great Commission Publications materials are generally used for the younger ages. Starting with Junior High the curriculum includes an Old Testament Survey, a New Testament survey, the Westminster Shorter Catechism, church history and Orthodox Presbyterian Church history.
Women’s Meetings. The women of the church meet weekly for fellowship, study and prayer. The group is reading and discussing The Envy of Eve. Children are welcome. Babysitting is provided.
Prayer Meetings. Prayer meetings are held every Wednesday at various locations. Please check the Calendar of Events for time and location.
College Group. Reformed University Outreach (RUO) is a campus ministry that meets weekly for Bible study on the West Virginia University campus. Please see the Calendar page for the date, time and location of the meeting. RUO is studying Francis Breisch’s The Ministry of Christ. Visit Reformed University Outreach @ WVU for more information.
Lord’s Supper. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of every month. Please see our Lord’s Supper Policy for the Session’s guidelines on participation in the Supper.
Fellowship Dinner. We enjoy a fellowship dinner every second Sunday at the church building. This is a potluck dinner and is open to all.
College and Career Group. College and career group meets on the third Sunday evening of every month for dinner and study. The group is presently reading and discussing Abraham Kuyper’s Lectures on Calvinism.
Men’s Group. The men of the church meet the first Saturday of every month for breakfast and study. We are presently reading and discussing Louis Berkhof’s Systematic Theology.
Session Meetings. The elders of the church meet monthly to oversee the public worship of God and to determine the best measures for promoting the spiritual growth and evangelistic witness of the congregation.
Winter Ski Weekend. We host a winter ski weekend in February for college and career folk. The event begins Friday evening with fellowship and snacks. Skiing at an area resort is on Saturday, with dinner and fellowship Saturday evening at a home of a family in the congregation. The weekend concludes with a congregational dinner after Sunday morning worship.
Vacation Bible School. We host an annual Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 – 12. This is a weeklong event culminating in a carnival and cookout for all ages. Please see our calendar for the dates of the upcoming VBS.
Summer Youth Camp. The Presbytery of Ohio hosts an annual summer youth camp for children ages 9 to 18. There are two morning classes (one of which is missions), afternoon activities and evening vespers. Visit the Presbytery of Ohio Youth Blog for more information.
New Member Classes. New member classes are held as needed for covenant children and visitors to the church who want to become members of the church. These classes are conducted by the pastor and cover areas of Christian doctrine in preparation for an interview with the session.
Fellowship and Hospitality. Fellowship activities are left up to the initiative of the congregation to provide hospitality for one another in our homes.
